history

Steinbach was first mentioned in a document in 1557, but the time of origin of the settlement is assumed to have been between 1200 and 1300 at the end of the medieval clearing period. Steinbach was a split from the Carthausen court.

In 1818 nine residents lived in the village. In 1838 Steinbach belonged to the Oeckinghauser peasantry within the Halver mayor . The place, which was categorized as arable property according to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , had a house, two factories or mills and an agricultural building at that time. At that time, twelve people lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 24 inhabitants who lived in four houses.

Steinbach had a stop on the Hälvertalbahn .
