The Medium Magazin für Journalisten (spelling medium magazin für journalisten ) is a journal for journalists that has been published since 1986 . The editorial office is in Frankfurt am Main .
history
The medium magazine is published eight times a year in media publishing house Oberauer, Salzburg, among other things, the media journals business journalist , the Austrian journalist , Swiss journalist and the media service published Newsroom.de. There are also occasional other editions - such as environmental journalist , science and medical journalist , food and agricultural journalist and cultural journalist - and, since 2007, once a year Die Journalistin .
In April 1986 the first issue of the magazine, which was then aimed at young journalists, was published by the student Sebastian Turner , who was also the first editor-in-chief. The founding team included u. a. Stefan Kornelius , Oliver Schrott , Annette Milz , Kai Diekmann , Holger Ohmstedt and Andreas Spaeth ; all the editors at the time were pupils, students or volunteers. The initial circulation was 2,000 copies. From 1988 the magazine appeared quarterly, from 1992 bi-monthly.
The medium magazine specializes in print and has, according to Media 2019 a print run of 19,500 copies. The edition is not checked by IVW . In 1989 the editor-in-chief was Stefan Kornelius. Annette Milz has been editor-in-chief since 1990.
In February 2020, Klaas Heufer-Umlauf was voted 3rd in the entertainment category at the 2019 Prize. After the reporting format STRG_F had revealed that it had only faked authenticity in some programs by staging , the award was revoked in March 2020.
Journalist of the year
The price
Every year , the journal organizes elections for Journalist of the Year in various categories; in addition to the Journalist of the Year award, awards are also given in ten specialist categories. In addition, there is the Editor of the Year Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award and, in some cases, special awards , such as for voluntary commitment to the professional interests of freelance journalists.
A jury of around 70 members now selects individual (and possibly several) people who have distinguished themselves through special journalistic achievements in the past year from nomination proposals. The prize has been awarded since 2004.
