Patsy Ann "Pat" Danner (born January 13, 1934 in Louisville , Kentucky ) is a former American politician . Between 1993 and 2001 she represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Pat Danner attended public schools in Bevier, Missouri. She later studied political science at Northwest Missouri State University . She then began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . From 1970 to 1972 she was party vice chairman in the ninth congressional electoral district of Missouri. At the same time, she was serving as party leader in Macon County . Between 1973 and 1976 she was on the staff of Congressman Jerry Litton . From 1977 to 1981 she was co-chair of the Ozarks Regional Commission . From 1983 to 1993, Danner served in the Missouri Senate .

In the 1992 congressional election , she was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the sixth constituency of Missouri , where she succeeded Earl Thomas Coleman on January 3, 1993 . After three re-elections, she was able to complete four legislative terms in Congress until January 3, 2001 . For health reasons, Pat Danner decided not to run again in 2000. Her son Steve ran for her successor in Congress, but was defeated by Republican Sam Graves .
