Joel Douglas Hubbard (born November 6, 1860 in Marshall , Saline County , Missouri , †  May 26, 1919 in Tampa , Florida ) was an American politician . Between 1895 and 1897 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Joel Hubbard attended his home public schools and Central College in Fayette . After a subsequent medical degree at Missouri Medical College in St. Louis and his 1882 admission as a doctor, he began to work in Syracuse in this profession, which he practiced there until 1886. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . From 1886 to 1894 he was employed as a county clerk in the Morgan County administration. In the congressional election of 1894 , Hubbard was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the eighth constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded Richard P. Bland on March 4, 1895 . Since he was not confirmed in 1896, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1897 .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Hubbard studied law. In 1899 he was admitted to the bar. He then began to practice in his new profession in Versailles . He also worked in the banking industry. In 1904 and 1905 he was again employed as a doctor in Sedalia . He then returned to Versailles to work again as a lawyer and in banking. In 1917, Hubbard moved to El Paso , Texas , where he practiced as a lawyer. He died in Tampa on May 26, 1919 and was buried in Versailles.
