Theodore W. Hukriede

Theodore Waldemar Hukriede (born November 9, 1878 in New Truxton , Warren County , Missouri , †  April 14, 1945 in Warrenton , Missouri) was an American politician . Between 1921 and 1923 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Theodore Hukriede attended his homeland public schools, Central Wesleyan College in Warrenton and the University of Missouri in Columbia . After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1903, he began to work in Warrenton in this profession. Between 1904 and 1910 he was a prosecutor in the local Warren County. In the same district he served as a debt restructuring judge from 1910 to 1920. He was also Chairman of the Warrenton School Committee from 1916 to 1920. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1900 and 1940 he was a delegate to a total of six regional Republican party conventions in Missouri. In 1916 and 1936 he also took part in the respective Republican National Conventions . Between 1916 and 1918 Hukriede was a member of the state executive committee of his party.

In the congressional election of 1920 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the ninth constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded Champ Clark on March 4, 1921 . Since he was defeated in 1922 by the Democrat Clarence Cannon , he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1923 . Between 1923 and 1933, Hukriede was US Marshal for the eastern part of Missouri. He then practiced as a lawyer again. He was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives from 1942 until his death .
