Charles Arthur Anderson

Charles Arthur Anderson (born September 26, 1899 in St. Louis , Missouri , †  April 26, 1977 there ) was an American politician . Between 1937 and 1941 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Anderson attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1916 the St. Charles Military Academy . During the First World War he served in an artillery unit of the US Army in the European theater of war. After completing a law degree and being admitted to the bar in 1924, he began to work in this profession in St. Louis. Between 1933 and 1937 he was a prosecutor in St. Louis County . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

In the 1936 congressional elections he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the twelfth constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded James Robert Claiborne on January 3, 1937 . After being re-elected, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until January 3, 1941 . During this time, further New Deal laws were passed by the federal government. In 1940 Anderson was defeated by Republican Walter C. Ploeser in the congressional elections . In the same year he chaired the regional Democratic Party conference in Missouri. As a result, he practiced as a lawyer again. Charles Anderson died in St. Louis on April 26, 1977.
