Albert L. Reeves Junior

Albert Lee Reeves Jr. (born May 31, 1906 in Steelville , Crawford County , Missouri , †  April 15, 1987 in La Jolla , California ) was an American politician . Between 1947 and 1949 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Albert Reeves was the son of Albert L. Reeves (1873-1971), who was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives and served as a federal judge on the United States District Court for western Missouri from 1923 to 1954 . The younger Reeves attended public schools in Kansas City and then studied until 1927 at William Jewell College in Liberty . In 1927 and 1928 he taught at the Baylor University in Waco ( Texas ). He then continued his own education by studying at Harvard University until 1929 . After studying law at the University of Missouri and being admitted to the bar in 1931, he began working in this profession in Kansas City. During World War II , Reeves served as an officer in the US Army . He was deployed in British India , Burma and the Republic of China . When he left military service in April 1946, he had made it to the position of lieutenant colonel.

After his military service, Reeves practiced as a lawyer again. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In the 1946 congressional elections he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the fifth constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded Democrat Roger C. Slaughter on January 3, 1947 . Since he was not confirmed in 1948, he could only complete one term in Congress until January 3, 1949 . This was shaped by the tensions of the beginning Cold War .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Albert Reeves worked as a lawyer in Kansas City and Washington. He also became vice president of the San Francisco- based Utah Construction & Mining Co. He was also a director of Marcona Corporation . He moved to Pauma Valley , California, where he passed his old age , and died on April 15, 1987 in La Jolla.
