Robert N. Bodine

Robert Nall Bodine (born December 17, 1837 near Paris , Monroe County , Missouri , †  March 16, 1914 there ) was an American politician . Between 1897 and 1899 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Robert Bodine attended the Paris Academy and then studied until 1859 at the University of Missouri in Columbia . He then worked for some time as a teacher in the schools in his hometown Paris. After studying law and being admitted to the bar, he began practicing his new profession there. In the meantime, he was also a district attorney in Monroe County. Politically, Bodine was a member of the Democratic Party . In 1890 he took part as a delegate at a meeting to revise the state constitution. From 1895 to 1897 he was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives .

In the congressional election of 1896 Bodine was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the second constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded Uriel Sebree Hall on March 4, 1897 . Since he was not nominated for re-election by his party in 1898, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1899 . During this time the Spanish-American War of 1898 fell . After leaving the US House of Representatives, Robert Bodine worked again as a lawyer in his hometown of Paris, where he died on March 16, 1914.
