Billy Long
William H. "Billy" Long II (born August 11, 1955 in Springfield , Missouri ) is an American politician ( Republican Party ). Since 2011 he has represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Billy Long studied at the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1973 and 1974 and then continued his education until 1979 at the Missouri Auction School . In the following years he worked temporarily as a radio host between 1999 and 2006. He also acquired Billy Long Auctions LLC , which he still owns today.
In the 2010 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the seventh constituency of Missouri with 63 percent of the vote against Democrat Scott Eckersley . On January 3, 2011, he succeeded Roy Blunt , who was elected to the US Senate . After three re-elections so far in 2012, 2014 and 2016, he can continue to exercise his office today. His new legislative term runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018. In Congress , Long was a member of the Homeland Security Committee and the Transport Committee, as well as a total of five sub-committees. In 2016 he was a member of the Energy and Trade Committee and three of its sub-committees.
