Ann Wagner
Ann Louise Wagner (* 13. September 1962 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American politician of the Republican . She has represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives since 2013 .
Career
Ann Wagner first attended the Cor Jesu Academy in her hometown of St. Louis and then studied business administration at the University of Missouri . She then worked temporarily as a businesswoman. In 1990 she began a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In 1992 she was Missouri Chair of the Committee for the Re-election of President George Bush . From 1999 to 2005 she was the state chairman of her party. Between 2001 and 2004 she was also the Federal Vice-Chairperson (“Co-Chair”) of the Republicans. In 2004 she supported the election campaign for the re-election of President George W. Bush . In 2005, he appointed her to succeed Peter Terpeluk as US ambassador to Luxembourg . She held this office until 2009. In 2010, she chaired the election committee of Roy Blunt when he ran for the US Senate .
In the 2012 election to the United States House of Representatives , Wagner was elected to the House of Representatives in Washington, DC in Missouri's second congressional electoral district, where she succeeded Todd Akin, who was unsuccessful for the Senate on January 3, 2013 . There she is a member of the finance committee . After two re-elections so far in 2014 and 2016, her mandate runs until January 3, 2019. On July 3, 2017, she announced that she would apply again for her previous mandate in the November 2018 election after being pushed by the party leadership had been to challenge the Democratic US Senator Claire McCaskill in the simultaneous Senate election .
Ann Wagner is married to Ray Wagner, a former director of the Missouri Tax Department. The couple has three children.
