R. Wendell Bailey (born July 30, 1940 in Willow Springs , Howell County , Missouri ) is an American politician . Between 1981 and 1983 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Wendell Bailey attended Willow Springs High School and then studied business administration at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield until 1962 . In the following years he worked as a car dealer. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1969 and 1971 he was on the Willow Springs City Council; then he acted as mayor of this place until 1972.

From 1972 to 1980, Bailey was an MP in the Missouri House of Representatives . In the 1980 congressional election , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the eighth constituency of his state , where he succeeded Richard Howard Ichord on January 3, 1981 . Since he was not confirmed in 1982, he could only complete one term in Congress until January 3, 1983 .

Between 1985 and 1993, Bailey was Treasury Secretary for the State of Missouri. In 1992 he applied unsuccessfully in the primary elections of his party for the nomination as the top candidate for the upcoming gubernatorial election ; in 2000, he also ran unsuccessfully for Lieutenant Governor of Missouri. In 2006 he worked for the Small Business Administration in Kansas City .
