Max Schwabe

Max Schwabe (born December 6, 1905 in Columbia , Missouri , †  July 31, 1983 ) was an American politician . Between 1943 and 1949 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Max Schwabe was the younger brother of Congressman George B. Schwabe (1886–1952). After studying at the University of Missouri at Columbia, he worked in the insurance industry and as a farmer. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

In the 1942 congressional elections , Schwabe was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded Democrat William L. Nelson on January 3, 1943 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1949 . These were shaped by the events of the Second World War and its immediate consequences. In 1948 Schwabe lost to Morgan M. Moulder .

Between 1953 and 1961, led Schwabe which the US Department of Agriculture under this authority Farmers Home Administration for the State of Missouri. Then he withdrew from politics. Max Schwabe died on July 31, 1983 in his hometown of Columbia, where he was also buried.
