Daniel Dee Burnes (born January 4, 1851 in Ringgold , Platte County , Missouri , †  November 2, 1899 in Saint Joseph , Missouri) was an American politician . Between 1893 and 1895 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Daniel Burnes attended schools in Weston and, until 1873, Saint Louis University . This was followed by a law degree at Harvard University until 1874 . He then studied for some time at the University of Heidelberg in Germany . On his return to Missouri, he settled in Saint Joseph, where he worked as a lawyer. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

In the congressional elections of 1892 Burnes was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded Robert Patterson Clark Wilson on March 4, 1893 . Since he refused to run again in 1894, he was only able to complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1895 . After leaving the US House of Representatives, Burnes practiced law again. He died on November 2, 1899 on his Ayr Lawn estate in Saint Joseph.
