Frederick Gottlieb Niedringhaus (born October 21, 1837 in Lübbecke , Prussia , †  November 25, 1922 in St. Louis , Missouri ) was an American politician of German origin. Between 1889 and 1891 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Frederick Niedringhaus, born in the Prussian province of Westphalia , was the uncle of Congressman Henry F. Niedringhaus (1864-1941), who also sat in the US House of Representatives for the State of Missouri between 1927 and 1933. He attended the public schools in his home country. He was also active in the fields of glazing, tinning and painting. In 1855 Niedringhaus came to the United States, where he settled in St. Louis. Since 1862 he dealt with the engraving of tinware. He later became a successful businessman who, among other things, was president of Granite Realty & Investment Company . He has also held senior positions at numerous other St. Louis companies.

Politically, Niedringhaus was a member of the Republican Party . In the congressional election of 1888 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the eighth constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded John Joseph O'Neill on March 4, 1889 , whom he had defeated in the election. Since he refused to run again in 1890, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1891 .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Frederick Niedringhaus resumed his previous business activities in St. Louis. He died there on November 25, 1922.
