James Richard Waddill

James Richard Waddill (born November 22, 1842 in Springfield , Missouri , †  June 14, 1917 in Deming , New Mexico ) was an American politician . Between 1879 and 1881 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James Waddill attended private schools and then Springfield College . During the Civil War he served in the Union Army between 1861 and 1863 . He rose to the rank of first lieutenant. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1864, he began to work in his home town of Springfield in this profession. Between 1874 and 1876 he was a prosecutor in Greene County .

Politically, Waddill was a member of the Democratic Party . In the congressional elections of 1878 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the sixth constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded Charles Henry Morgan on March 4, 1879 . By March 3, 1881, he completed a term in Congress . After leaving the US House of Representatives, Waddill returned to practice as a lawyer. He also began to work in the mining industry near Joplin . He died on June 14, 1917 in Deming, New Mexico.
