Vicky Hartzler
Vicky Jo Hartzler (born October 13, 1960 in Harrisonville , Cass County , Missouri ) is an American politician . She has represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives since 2011 .
Career
Vicky Hartzler attended Archie High School until 1979 . She then studied at the University of Missouri in Columbia until 1983 and then at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg until 1992 . The focus of her studies was education. She then taught social studies at various high schools in Missouri for eleven years; it was mainly about family and consumer concerns. She also acted as a business woman in farm equipment.
Politically, Hartzler joined the Republican Party . Between 1995 and 2001 she was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives . In 2005 she became Chair of the Missouri Women's Council. In the 2010 congressional elections , she was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the fourth constituency of her state , where she succeeded Ike Skelton on January 3, 2011 . After three re-elections in 2012, 2014 and 2016, she can continue to hold office today. Her new legislative term runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018. In Congress , she is or was a member of the Agriculture Committee , the Armed Forces Committee and the House Committee on the Budget, as well as a total of five sub-committees. Vicky Hartzler is a member of the Republican Study Committee and the Tea Party Caucus within her party .
She is married and lives privately on a farm in Harrisonville. The couple have an adopted daughter.
Political positions
She is considered conservative and advocates tax and spending cuts. She is also a staunch opponent of same-sex marriages. Speaking to college students at the Eagle Forum in Washington DC on June 9, 2011, Hartzler said that legalizing same-sex marriage will mean that pedophiles and polygamists will soon get married. During a debate in Missouri on April 5, 2012, Hartzler questioned the authenticity of Barack Obama's birth certificate . Hartzler spoke out in favor of intensifying "enmity with China". In September 2013, Hartzler voted to cut social benefits by $ 39 billion. Hartzler himself is a recipient of grants and has collected 800,000 in this way to date.
