John Milton Glover

John Milton Glover (born June 23, 1852 in St. Louis , Missouri , †  October 20, 1929 in Pueblo , Colorado ) was an American politician . Between 1885 and 1889 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Glover was a nephew of Congressman John Montgomery Glover (1822-1891). He attended public schools in his home country and then studied at Washington University in St. Louis . After studying law and being admitted to the bar, he began working in this profession in St. Louis. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . In the 1884 congressional election , Glover was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the ninth constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded James Broadhead on March 4, 1885 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1889 .

In 1888 he unsuccessfully sought his party's nomination as a candidate for the upcoming gubernatorial election in Missouri. Until 1909, John Glover practiced as a lawyer in St. Louis; then he moved his residence and his law firm to Denver . In 1926 he retired for health reasons. He died in Pueblo on October 20, 1929 and was buried in St. Louis.
