Frank B. Fulkerson

Frank Ballard Fulkerson (born March 5, 1866 in Edinburg , Grundy County , Missouri , †  August 30, 1936 in Higginsville , Missouri) was an American politician . Between 1905 and 1907 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

As a child, Frank Fulkerson and his parents moved to a farm near Higginsville. He attended the public schools of his new home and then until 1888 the Westminster College in Fulton . He then worked as a teacher for two years. After studying law at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and at the University of Missouri in Columbia, as well as being admitted to the bar in 1892, he began to work in this profession in Warrensburg . From 1893 to 1895 he was also the legal representative of this city.

In 1895 and 1896, Fulkerson served as Johnson County attorney . In 1897 he moved to Holden and in 1900 to Saint Joseph , where he practiced as a lawyer. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party . In the congressional elections of 1904 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded Charles F. Cochran on March 4, 1905 . Since he was not confirmed in 1906, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1907 .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Frank Fulkerson returned to practice as a lawyer. In 1908 he applied unsuccessfully for the office of Attorney General of Missouri. In the same year, a candidacy for the office of mayor of Saint Joseph failed. As a result, Fulkerson was a multiple delegate at various regional Republican party conventions in Missouri. In 1908 he was also a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Chicago , where William Howard Taft was nominated as a presidential candidate. In 1909, Fulkerson became a member and chairman of the Saint Joseph City Police Committee; in 1913 and 1914 he was the city's legal advisor. In 1918 he moved his residence and his law firm to Lafayette County , where he also worked in agriculture. Between 1921 and 1925, Fulkerson served as the district attorney in Lafayette County. He died on August 30, 1936 near Higginsville.
