William H. Wade

William Henry Wade (born November 3, 1835 in Springfield , Ohio , †  January 13, 1911 in Springfield , Missouri ) was an American politician . Between 1885 and 1891 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Wade attended the public schools in his home country as well as the Grove Academy and Antioch College in Yellow Springs . After that he worked in agriculture. During the Civil War , Wade served in the Union Army . In May 1866 he moved to Missouri, where he returned to farming. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party . Between 1881 and 1884 he was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives .

In the congressional election of 1884 Wade was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 13th constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded Democrat Robert Washington Fyan on March 4, 1885 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1891 . From 1889 he was chairman of the Committee on Labor . In 1890 he was defeated by his predecessor Fyan. After leaving the US House of Representatives, Wade returned to farming. He died in Springfield on January 13, 1911.
