Charles Edward Kiefner

Charles Edward Kiefner (born November 25, 1869 in Perryville , Perry County , Missouri , †  December 13, 1942 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1925 and 1927 and again from 1929 to 1931 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Kiefner attended the public schools in his home country and then worked in the wood industry and in road construction. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1900 and 1902 he was Mayor of Perryville; from 1902 to 1908 he was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives . In 1912 Kiefner took part as a delegate at the Republican National Convention in Chicago , on which President William Howard Taft was nominated for re-election. From 1920 to 1924 he was on the staff of Governor Arthur M. Hyde .

In the 1924 congressional elections , Kiefner was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 13th  constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded J. Scott Wolff on March 4, 1925 . Since he lost to Clyde Williams in 1926 , he was only able to complete one term in Congress until March 3, 1927 . In the elections of 1928 Kiefner was re-elected to Congress in the 13th district of his state, where he replaced Williams on March 4, 1929 and served another term as a congressman until March 3, 1931. In 1930 he lost to Williams again.

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Charles Kiefner returned to working in the wood industry. He also got into the banking industry. He died in Perryville on December 13, 1942.
