Blaine Luetkemeyer
Blaine Luetkemeyer (born May 7, 1952 in Jefferson City , Missouri ) is an American politician . Since 2009 he has represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Blaine Luetkemeyer studied at Lincoln University in Jefferson City until 1974 . In the following years he was a private businessman. He also worked in banking and as a rancher. He also began a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1999 and 2005 he was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives . In 2004, he ran unsuccessfully for the office of Treasury Secretary of Missouri. From 2006 to 2008 he was director of the tourism commission of that state.
In the 2008 congressional election , Luetkemeyer was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the ninth constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded Kenny Hulshof on January 3, 2009 . After four re-elections so far in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016, he can continue to exercise his office today. His new term runs until January 3, 2019, with the option to run again in 2018. Since the state of Missouri lost an electoral district in 2012 and its previous district was affected, it had to go to the third to be re-elected Change constituency, which he has represented in the House of Representatives since January 3, 2013.
Luetkemeyer is or was a member of the Finance Committee and two of its sub-committees. As a supporter of the Tea Party movement, he is a member of the Tea Party Caucus within his party .
