Main round

mode

The 14 clubs played a double round with 52 games per club. The best six teams qualified directly for the play-off quarter-finals, the teams in positions 7 to 10 play out two further play-off participants in best-of-three series. The other play-off series were played in Best of Seven mode.

Each team receives three points for a win in regular time. If there is a tie after regular time, extra time is played in which the winner receives two points and the loser one point. After a draw there is a shootout after the five-minute extension . Each team initially has three shooters, then in the event of a tie the knockout system continues. There are no points for a loss in regular time.

For the teams in positions eleven and twelve, the season is over after the main round, during which the last two players play against the two representatives from the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan in the relegation for their place in the league.
