Brücken is a municipality in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Birkenfeld community .
geography
location
Brücken lies on the Traunbach in the Black Forest high forest in the Hunsrück . Around 63 percent of the municipal area is forested. The Allbach rises from the Friedrichskopf in the bridges area , and bears the name Königsbach in the upper reaches .
The community is divided into the districts of Brücken and Traunen. In addition to the two districts, the Friesenhof residential area also belongs to the community .
Brücken is a national park municipality in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park .
climate
The annual precipitation is 1021 mm. The rainfall is high. They are in the upper quarter of the values recorded in Germany. Lower values are registered at 86% of the measuring stations of the German Weather Service . The driest month is July, with the most rainfall in December. In December there is 1.8 times more rainfall than in July. Precipitation varies greatly. Higher seasonal fluctuations are registered at only 18% of the measuring stations .
history
Traunen was first mentioned in a document in 1256, bridges in 1374.
Until the end of the 18th century, today's community was divided, Brücken belonged to the Hinteren Grafschaft Sponheim , Traunen to the Duchy of Pfalz-Zweibrücken .
In 1794 the Left Bank of the Rhine was taken by French revolutionary troops. From 1798 to 1814, Brücken and Traunen belonged to the canton of Birkenfeld in the Saardepartement . As a result of the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna (1815), the region became part of the Oldenburg Principality of Birkenfeld in 1817 . The community of Brücken was assigned to the Birkenfeld mayor's office in the Birkenfeld district , the Traunen community to the mayor's office of Achtelsbach in the Nohfelden district . From 1918 on, both places belonged to the Oldenburg "Landesteil Birkenfeld". The current district of Traunen was incorporated in 1934 after bridges. The community of Brücken became part of the Prussian district of Birkenfeld in 1937 , and has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .
Bridges is known for the legend of Hinzhausen. According to this legend, there was a village in the forest that was attacked by the plague. After much deliberation by the residents who were still alive, they decided to lock their village from the inside and burn everything down. So the rest of the area was spared from the plague. Today it is said that in the middle of the forest around bridges there are still some ruins. These ruins actually exist, but it is not clear whether they were left over from the tragic plague in Hinzhausen.

Culture and sights
Every year the bell fair takes place in bridges, to which people from outside like to come.
The carnival event (cap meeting) is also known in Brücken. This celebration is so popular that two evenings are reserved for the various performances.

Economy and Infrastructure
There is a primary school and a kindergarten. Children from the surrounding communities also go to these facilities.
In addition, there is a large fairground, a village museum, a community center and a gym in the bridges. The football club FC Brücken has a hard court and a grass field, which are located directly at the sports center. The community has a volunteer fire brigade, which also makes a contribution to youth work in the form of a youth fire brigade .
