The tour of the Australian national cricket team to India in the 1986/87 season took place from September 7 to October 19, 1986. The international cricket tour was part of the 1986/87 international cricket season and included three tests and six ODIs . India won the ODI Series 3–2, while the Test Series 0–0 ended in a draw.

prehistory

It was the first tour of the season for both teams. The last meeting of the two teams took place in the 1985/86 season in Australia .

This was the second test ever that ended in a draw. The only other draw came in the first test of the West Indies Tour in Australia in the 1960/61 season . Fifteen years later, to commemorate the victims of the Gujarat earthquake, a benefit game was played with most of the participants in this test at the same location.
