↑ CEV Cup (II) |
The Challenge Cup is the third highest European Cup competition for club teams in volleyball. Up to and including the 2006/07 season, the competition was held under the name CEV-Pokal or CEV Cup . The organizing European association CEV then changed the structure of the competitions.
mode
The teams that are placed behind the Champions League and CEV Cup participants in their national league are eligible to participate . The exact number of starting places in the individual competitions results from a ranking list of the CEV.
In the first two rounds, 64 or 32 teams compete against each other in a knockout system with a return game. If there are different winners in the two games, the set ratio decides. If there is a tie here too, an additional set of up to 15 points is played immediately after the second leg (“golden set”), which decides on the move into the next round. The 16 winners of the second round meet the teams that were eliminated in the first round of the CEV Cup . The winners continue to play in the last sixteen and quarter-finals until the final four . The tournament of the best four teams is held in one central location within one weekend. The semi-finals will take place on one day, the third-place match and the final on the other.
