The 2018/19 season was the sixth season of the second highest German ice hockey league under the name DEL2 . It started on September 14, 2018 and ended on April 28, 2019. The game was organized by the ESBG . The Ravensburg Towerstars won the DEL2 championship with a 4-2 win in the play-off final against the Löwen Frankfurt . Promoted Deggendorfer SC failed in the playdowns and rose again from the ice hockey league .

Attendees

14 teams took part in the league. The Deggendorfer SC was promoted from the league . Vice-champion SC Riessersee announced the withdrawal from the DEL2 on May 16, 2018, but then submitted license documents. After a haircut could not be successfully completed, the DEL2 refused the license. The successor was the sporty relegated Bayreuth Tigers .

Play-offs

mode

In the pre-play-offs, the teams in positions 7 to 10 of the main round played two participants in the play-offs in two best-of-three series. The seventh of the main round played against the tenth and the eighth against the ninth.

The first six placed in the main round and the two winners of the pre-play-offs played the winner in three rounds in best-of-seven mode from March 15 to April 28, 2019.

If games ended in a draw after the regular playing time of 3 × 20 minutes, there was an extension of 20 minutes, but only until a goal was scored. The team that scored the goal was the winner with the corresponding result. The 20-minute extensions were repeated, each with a new ice preparation and a 15-minute break, until the decisive goal was scored.

Pre-play-offs

The pre-play-offs were played in best-of-three mode. The games took place on March 8, 10 and 12, 2019.

In the semi-finals, the remaining best competed against the remaining worst and the other two teams against each other. The play-off semi-finals were also played in best-of-seven mode.
