Luís Fabiano , full name Luís Fabiano Clemente (born November 8, 1980 in Campinas ), is a Brazilian football player .
Career
The striker began his career in 1995 as a youth player with Guarani FC in his native Campinas. In 1997 he moved, after a brief interlude at Ituano FC , to city rivals AA Ponte Preta . There he was able to convince with good performances and moved in 2000 to the transfer fee of seven million euros for France to Stade Rennes . But the player was probably still too young for a career in Europe, so a year later he came back to Brazil, to São Paulo FC, for 3.25 million euros .
In the years to come, Luís Fabiano was one of São Paulo's top performers and played his way into the field of vision of the Seleção . This was followed by appearances at the Confederations Cup in France in 2003 , at the Copa America in 2004 and in some friendly matches. From 2003 to 2004 he played a total of twelve games for Brazil, scoring six goals.
In 2004 the Brazilian went to FC Porto for 1.9 million euros . Even in Portugal he could not completely convince and so after only one year he moved to Spain to Sevilla FC, who paid three million euros for the center forward. In his first season he scored five goals in 23 games and alternated with the Malian Frédéric Kanouté as a strike partner alongside the Argentine international Javier Saviola . On May 10, 2006, he won the 2005/06 UEFA Cup final with Sevilla FC , in which he contributed one goal to the 4-0 victory. In 93 league games for Sevilla he made 43 goals in the Primera Division.
FC Porto owned 25% of the transfer rights, the remaining 75% were bought by Global Soccer Investments for 7.5 million euros from FC São Paulo.
He was the top scorer with five goals at the 2009 Confederations Cup , which Brazil won, and was voted the tournament's second best player by journalists. In 2009 he was also awarded the Samba d'Or for the best Brazilian to play in Europe.
With three goals he was the most successful goalscorer in Brazil during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa , even if he had played the ball irregularly twice before with his second goal in the tournament. Luís Fabiano later spoke of the “most holy hand of God ”.
On March 12, 2011, Sevilla FC announced that Luís Fabiano would return to São Paulo FC for a transfer fee of around € 7.6 million , where he signed a four-year contract. With São Paulo he won the Copa Sudamericana 2012 , although he had received a red card in the first final game.
For the 2016 season, he joined Tianjin Quanjian for one year. In 28 missions he scored 22 hits.
Luís Fabiano returned to his homeland in early 2017 and joined the CR Vasco da Gama . He came seven appearances (one goal) in the Campeonato Carioca and twelve inserts (five goals) in the Series A .
Private
In March 2005, his mother was kidnapped in Campinas . Shortly before, the mothers of Grafite and Robinho had been taken hostage to extort ransom.
