The list of the team cadres of the German Chess League 2001/02 contains all players registered for the German Chess League 2001/02 and their individual results.
The 16 clubs were able to report 8 regular players and a maximum of 6 substitute players, but the USC Magdeburg withdrew its team without reporting. Not all of the registered players were used. The Godesberger SK managed with 9 players, while the Lübecker SV, SG Porz, Stuttgarter SF and SV Castrop-Rauxel used all registered players. A total of 188 players were used, 38 of whom never missed a match.
The best point player of the season was Curt Hansen (SG Porz) with 11 points from 14 games, his teammate Erik van den Doel and Predrag Nikolić (SG 1868-Aljechin Solingen) scored 10 points each , with van den Doel playing 12 games and Nikolić 13. With Ivan Sokolov (SG Porz), Pontus Sjödahl (SV Wattenscheid), Felix Levin (Werder Bremen) and Gerd Lorscheid (Stuttgart SF) four players achieved 100%, but they only played a few games. Sokolov, Sjödahl and Levin were used twice, Lorscheid once.
The oldest player of the season was Klaus Klundt (* 1941), who played for TV Tegernsee , and Elisabeth Pähtz (* 1985), who played for Erfurt SK, was the youngest player .
With Almira Scripcenco-Lautier (SG Heiligenhaus), Ketino Kachiani-Gersinska (TV Tegernsee) and Elisabeth Pähtz (Erfurter SK), three women played for the first time in a single-track Bundesliga season, Scripcenko-Lautier was also the first woman to play in the Bundesliga played on the top board.
