The Ford Escape Hybrid was the first hybrid car produced in the USA and was later offered in sister models as the Mercury Mariner and Mazda Tribute . At the beginning of 2012, production was stopped after 122,850 vehicles. Sales peaked in 2007 with 20,961 vehicles, while in 2011 11,183 Ford Escape Hybrids were sold. The 2013 model of the Ford Escape received more economical conventional engines so that a hybrid drive was dispensed with.
