Osenberg , formerly Osenbergermühle or Osenberger Mühle , is a residential area of Halver in the Märkisches Kreis in the administrative district of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Osenberg is located in the north-west of the Halveraner urban area on the city limits of Breckerfeld in the Ennepe valley . The neighboring towns are Kamscheid , Oberbuschhausen , Buschhauser Hammer and Ahe .

The place can be reached via a road that branches off the federal road 229 at Niederennepe and connects the villages in the Ennepetal. Since the location is at the root of the Ennepe pre- dam of the Ennepetalsperre , access is only permitted to residents for reasons of water protection .

history

The residential area known as Osenberg had the name Osenberger Mühle or Osenbergermühle , which was first mentioned in a document in 1367 , until the 20th century . The time of origin of the settlement is assumed to be between 1200 and 1300 at the end of the medieval clearing period. In 1823 a powder or paint mill was built, the buildings of which are still preserved today. To the east of the mill buildings on the other side of the Ennepe, another residential building was added in the first half of the 20th century. This entire local area has been called Osenberg since then , and the old place name Osenbergermühle is no longer used. On old editions of the topographic map 1: 25,000 sheet 4710 Halver , the place is also labeled as a turnery .

The actual Osenberg was first mentioned in a document in 1462, but the settlement in the Halveran urban area, now known as Osenberg, is not identical to this original settlement, the few remaining buildings - one of which is now used as a forester's lodge - a few hundred meters downstream in the Breckerfeld area on the dam Ennepe pre-lock are.

In 1818 six residents lived in Osenbergermühle. According to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , the place was categorized as a powder mill and mill and in 1838 had a population of four, all of whom were Protestant. At that time the place belonged to the Kamscheider peasantry within the mayor's office of Halver and owned a house, four factories or mills and two agricultural buildings.

The community encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 15 inhabitants for Osenberg who lived in three houses.
