The most important Scottish soccer cup competition, which was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association, began on November 28, 1891 and ended with the repeat final on April 9, 1892 in Ibrox Park in Glasgow . In this year's Scottish Cup final, Celtic Glasgow and FC Queen's Park faced each other. For Celtic it was the second participation in the finals after 1889 . Three years earlier, the team lost to Third Lanark . The FC Queen's Park, which was the record winner of the competition at that time, reached the final for the tenth time, all of which were won from the previous nine. After the first final game was rated as a friendly game due to the poor pitch, Celtic won the repeat final 5-1. For Celtic it was the first triumph in the Scottish Cup. A year later, Queen's Park returned the favor with a 2-1 win for this year's defeat and won the Scottish Cup for the tenth time in the club's history in the eleventh final. The third meeting of the two clubs in a final took place in 1900 , with Celtic winning 4: 3. In the 1891/92 season Celtic was runner-up behind FC Dumbarton . The FC Queen's Park was the only amateur club in the Scottish Football League to date that took part in league play only from the 1900/01 season.
