Durlinsdorf (German Dürlinsdorf ) is a French commune with 566 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). She is a member of the Sundgau community association .

geography

Durlinsdorf is located in Sundgau , on the edge of the French Jura . The Grumbach , a tributary of the Largue , emerges from a narrow mountain valley that is surrounded by heights of up to 640 m above sea level.

history

The village first appeared in 1147 as Turlanstorf and was later part of the County of Ferrette . In the 16th century Durlinsdorf was a seat of the Lords of Pfirt . The Thirty Years War left devastation in Durlinsdorf. Louis XIV made every effort to repopulate the village. From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Durlinsdorf belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Altkirch district in the Upper Alsace district .

Archaeological research on a construction site in 1966 found a large skeleton, sword and dagger.

economy

There are several farms in Durlinsdorf that specialize in the cultivation of grain, especially corn, and in meat and milk production.

A sawmill employs more than 20 people. In particular, roof beams and components for mountain huts are produced there.

The village also has a butcher's shop, a company that produces road surfaces, a marquee rental company, a fuel dealer and a wine dealer.
