Division 1 1993/94

The Division 1 1994/95 was the 57th season of the highest French football league. The season began on July 28, 1994 with the opening game Girondins Bordeaux against OGC Nice (1-0) and ended on May 31, 1995.

Nice, Stade Rennes and SC Bastia from Ligue 2 were promoted. The season as champions ended the FC Nantes Atlantique and thus became the successor to Paris Saint-Germain . Nantes qualified for the UEFA Champions League . Olympique Lyon , AJ Auxerre , RC Lens and AS Monaco qualified for the UEFA Cup . At the UEFA Intertoto Cup the following season Bordeaux who took FC Metz , AS Cannes and Racing Strasbourg part. Paris SG secured participation in the European Cup Winners' Cup of the following year through the Coupe de France . AS Saint-Étienne , SM Caen and FC Sochaux had to relegate to Division 2 .

From this season the three-point rule applied ; in the event of a tie, the goal difference was decisive for the placement.
