Location of Landwehr in Halver

Landwehr is a court in Halver in the Märkisches Kreis in the administrative district of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Landwehr is located at an altitude of 396 meters above sea level on the L528 state road directly on the city limits of Breckerfeld . The place is located on the watershed between the river systems of the Ennepe and the Volme . East rises a tributary of the Logrötker Bach , to the west a tributary of Bosseler Bach .

Neighboring towns are Vormbaum , Niedervahlefeld , Halver , Breckerfeld- Frettlöh and immediately behind the city limits Breckerfeld- Landwehr .

history

An old road from Halver via Wipperfürth , Halver, Kierspe to Meinerzhagen ran past Schmidthausen on the route of today's state road L528 , the Hileweg , an important early medieval (according to other views already early historical ) trade , pilgrimage and military route .

On both sides of Landwehr, deep ravines of this old road have been preserved in the forest. This ravine was protected by strong, multi-tiered land weirs , which are still preserved for a long distance. Another Landwehr runs at right angles to it, which presumably blocked the old road. This Landwehr continued in the east to Frettlöh and in the east to today's Glörtalsperre , but only a short piece of the moat east of the village has been preserved.
