Montcornet is a French commune with 297 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region ; it belongs to the arrondissement Charleville-Mézières and the canton Bogny-sur-Meuse (until 2015: canton Renwez ).
geography
Montcornet is about nine kilometers north-west of Charleville-Mézières in the Ardennes forest. Montcornet is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Renwez in the north and west, Sécheval in the northeast, Damouzy in the east and southeast, Arreux in the south and Cliron in the south and southwest.
history
On September 1, 1973, the previous municipalities of Montcornet and Cliron formed the new municipality of Montcornet-en-Ardenne . On January 1, 1989, these were dissolved and the previous communities rebuilt.
