The 2018-19 NBA season marked the National Basketball Association's 73rd season . The regular season began on October 16 with the home game of the Boston Celtics at TD Garden against the Philadelphia 76ers . The NBA All-Star Game took place on February 17, 2019 at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte , North Carolina , the end of the regular season was scheduled for April 10, 2019, before the postseason began on April 13 . The Toronto Raptors won the title for the first time by beating last year's champions Golden State Warriors in the final .

The 2018 NBA Draft took place on June 21, 2018 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn , New York .
Regular season
On October 16, 2018, the Boston Celtics opened the regular season with a home game against the Philadelphia 76ers .
Player change
- On November 12, Jimmy Butler was swapped by the Minnesota Timberwolves for Dario Šarić to the Philadelphia 76ers, among others .
- At the end of November, the Utah Jazz were able to secure themselves via Trade Kyle Korver from the Cleveland Cavaliers .
- On December 13th, Trevor Ariza ( Phoenix Suns ) was swapped for Austin Rivers and Kelly Oubre Jr. ( Washington Wizards )
- A "blockbuster" deal was threaded on January 31st between the Dallas Mavericks and the New York Knicks . Kristaps Porzingis , Tim Hardaway, Jr. , Courtney Lee and Trey Burke moved to Dallas, while DeAndre Jordan , Dennis Smith Jr. , Wesley Matthews and two future first-round picks went to New York.
- On the last day before the trade deadline, there was an exchange between the Toronto Raptors and the Memphis Grizzlies . For Marc Gasol , Jonas Valanciunas and CJ Miles were sent to Memphis , among others .
