The inhabitants are called Saint-Médariens .

Saint-Médard is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Champagnac in the north and north-west, Saint-Germain-de-Vibrac in the north-east, Mortiers in the east, Léoville in the south and south-east, Fontaines-d'Ozillac in the west and south-west and Ozillac in the west and north-west.
