final
The direction of the final game by referee Antonio Rigo turned out to be very controversial. The Spaniard had already led the semi-final second leg of the Cup between Atlético Madrid and CF Barcelona and caused indignation among the Madrid appendix with his decisions. Also during the final game, Rigo drew the ire of the Madrid fans through various decisions, who then chanted screams and threw numerous bottles and other objects onto the field. For this reason, the game was then referred to as "la final de las botellas" (Eng. "Final of the bottles").
