It belongs to the arrondissement Altkirch , the canton Altkirch and the municipality association Sundgau . The inhabitants call themselves les Hirsinguoises .

The municipality of Hirsingue is located on the upper Ill in Sundgau , five kilometers south of Altkirch .

Neighboring communities of Hirsingue are Altkirch in the north, Wittersdorf , Tagsdorf (point of contact) and Schwoben in the northeast, Bettendorf in the east, Ruederbach in the southeast, Heimersdorf in the south, Largitzen in the southwest and Hirtzbach in the west.
