List of railway lines in Portugal
This is a list of the railways in Portugal , both those currently in service and those that have already been closed. All information is based on the current Dirétorio da Rede 2019 , in German Netzbericht 2019 , of the Portuguese state infrastructure company Infraestruturas de Portugal . The terms linha and ramal are roughly equivalent to the German words Hauptbahn and Nebenbahn .
The complete track network covers 2536.1 kilometers, of which 2440.1 kilometers are Iberian broad gauge , 96 kilometers are meter gauge (exclusively Linha do Vouga ). 1925.6 kilometers of the network are single-track, 562.8 kilometers double-track and 47.7 kilometers multi-track. 1673.9 kilometers are electrified with 25 KV / 50 Hz, 25.4 kilometers with 1500 V (excluding the Linha de Cascais ), the rest (836.7 kilometers) is driven by diesel railcars and diesel locomotives.
Railway lines with regular traffic
This list contains all main and branch lines with regular passenger and / or freight traffic.
