• Karlsruhe / Germany : According to a ruling by the Federal Constitutional Court , sanctions with reductions in unemployment benefit II (Hartz IV benefits) are unconstitutional in their current form . Social associations and trade unions demanded in a joint declaration the complete abolition of the sanctions, the chairwoman of the Left Katja Kipping , together with the opposition party Die Grünen, sees the Karlsruhe decision as a historical judgment on social guarantees.

• Grube Teutschenthal / Germany : 35 miners trapped after a deflagration are rescued from a depth of 700 m.

Saturday 9th November 2019

• Kassel / Germany : The 2019 Faust award ceremony will take place in the Kassel State Theater and will be moderated by Wiebke Puls . Roberto Ciulli receives the Lifetime Achievement Award. Maja Beckmann was awarded in the Actor Actor category, Johannes Martin Kränzle in the Singer Actor Music Theater category .

• Hanover / Germany : The second round of mayoral elections will take place in Hanover and Mainz .
• La Paz / Bolivia : President Evo Morales resigns, as well as Vice-President Álvaro García , Senate President Adriana Salvatierra , the President of the Chamber of Deputies Víctor Borda and the first Senate Vice-President Rubén Medinaceli. This means that the first four successors to the president have resigned.
• Madrid / Spain : general election
• Tokyo / Japan : Team World Cup finals in table tennis
• Basel / Switzerland : As part of BuchBasel , the novel receives GRM. Brainfuck by Sibylle Berg won the Swiss Book Prize .

• La Paz / Bolivia : Jeanine Áñez , Second President of the Senate of Bolivia, will succeed the resigned President Evo Morales on an interim basis . She is the country's second female head of state after Lidia Gueiler Tejada (1979–1980).

• Venice / Italy : Shortly before midnight, the flood in Venice ( Acqua alta ) reached its highest level since 1966.

• Berlin / Germany : The Legal Committee of the German Bundestag elects its chairman Stephan Brandner ( AfD ). Such a process had never happened before in the Bundestag. The day before, his party friend Joachim Paul had already been deposed as committee chairman in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament .

• Göttingen / Germany : An international team of researchers led by the University of Göttingen and the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam has discovered three supermassive black holes in the core of a single galaxy for the first time . It's NGC 6240 , about 300 million light years from the Milky Way .

• London / United Kingdom : Two people are killed and three others injured in a knife attack on London Bridge before the attacker was overwhelmed by passers-by and shot by the police. He had a dummy bomb on his body. The Islamic State has claimed the attack for itself.
• The Hague / Netherlands : A man stabbed passers-by in a busy shopping street not far from the Dutch government district. 3 minors are injured. However, they could be discharged from the hospital that same evening.

Saturday 30th November 2019

• Berlin / Germany : Announcement of the results of the second member survey on the election for SPD party leadership . A majority of almost 53 percent of the participating members voted for the applicant duo Saskia Esken / Norbert Walter-Borjans , the official election will take place at the federal party conference on December 6th.
• Braunschweig / Germany : First day of the Federal Congress of the Alternative for Germany . Jörg Meuthen is re-elected as chairman, and the party congress elects Tino Chrupalla to succeed the co-chairman Alexander Gauland , who did not stand again .
• Kumamoto / Japan : Start of the 24th Women's Handball World Championship (until December 15)
