Monday 2nd September 2019
- Santa Cruz Island / United States : Off the coast of the Californian island, the excursion boat " Conception " catches fire and sinks, at least 25 people are killed.
- Tehran / Iran : Iranian soccer fan Sahar Khodayari burned himself to death in the courtroom . She was arrested because she disguised as a man wanted to watch a soccer game in the stadium. She dies of her injuries on September 8th.
Tuesday 3rd September 2019
- London / United Kingdom : The British House of Commons ends its summer break. Because of their voting behavior in the context of a legislative initiative to prevent an exit from the EU without an agreement , 21 MEPs of the Conservative Party in the British House of Commons are expelled from their group late in the evening. Shortly before, the government had already lost its majority when its MP Phillip Lee left the parliamentary group .

- Raleigh (North Carolina) / USA : A court in North Carolina declares Gerrymandering unconstitutional for congressional seats in North Carolina.
- Rome / Italy : The members of the Five Star Movement vote by a large majority for a coalition government of their party with the Partito Democratico under the leadership of the previous Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte .
- Zurich : Digital Switzerland organizes a public digital day on cybersecurity at Zurich main station as well as 300 free talks, opportunities to have a say, stage shows, startup pitches, expos and courses throughout Switzerland.

- Bonn / Germany : The first cum-ex fraud trial begins in Bonn .
- Germany : Start of the 33rd Fantasy Film Festival (until September 29)
- London / United Kingdom : The British House of Commons votes for a law to extend the deadline in the event of unsuccessful renegotiations on Brexit and reject an early election. At the same time, a court in Scotland allows the planned recess in parliament.

- Linz / Austria : Start of Ars Electronica (until September 9th)
- London / United Kingdom : Boris Johnson's brother and State Secretary Jo Johnson leaves the UK cabinet and resigns from parliament.
- London / United Kingdom : In London, the car of the daughter-in-law of the former Ukrainian central bank head Valerija Hontarewa is set on fire. Hontarewa itself had been hit in August.
- Moscow / Russia : The Russian election officer Ella Pamfilova is injured in an attack.
- Rome / Italy : The new Italian government under Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte takes office.
- Waldsiedlung (Altenstadt) / Germany : The NPD functionary Stefan Jagsch is elected mayor of the Hessian village of Waldsiedlung.
- Washington / USA : In good time before the new President Kristalina Georgiewa takes office, the IMF is abolishing the age limit of 65 years for directors at the time of taking office.

- Berlin / Germany : Start of the international radio exhibition (until September 11th)
- Istanbul / Turkey : The Istanbul CHP chairwoman Canan Kaftancıoğlu is sentenced to nine years in prison.
- Kinshasa / Democratic Republic of the Congo : Sylvestre Ilunga Ilukamba is elected Prime Minister.
- London / United Kingdom : The law against a no-deal Brexit passes the British House of Lords. A court in London allows the planned recess in parliament.
- Moon : The attempt to land on the moon with the Indian Chandrayaan-2 mission fails.
- Suva / Fiji : The parliament of Fiji rejects the suspension of the head of government.

- Tallinn / Estonia : The Estonian government is not nominating a commissioner for the remainder of the EU Commission's term of office (until October 31). The previous Vice-President of the Commission, Andrus Ansip , moved to the European Parliament on July 2 and gave up his post prematurely.

- London / United Kingdom : Before the parliamentary recess - which was later declared illegal - begins, the British House of Commons again refuses to dissolve itself.
- Rome / Italy : The Senate also approves the new government of the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte .
- Schwerin / Germany : Manuela Schwesig is stepping down as the incumbent SPD chairman for health reasons .
- Washington / USA : US Security Advisor John Bolton resigns.

- Edinburgh / United Kingdom : An appeals court ruled that Prime Minister Boris Johnson's recess in parliament was illegal. The British Supreme Court will give a final verdict on September 24th.

Valerie Pachner was honored as an actress in a leading role for Der Boden unter den Füssen , while Rainer Bock was an actor in a leading role for Atlas . Christine Schorn received the honorary award for her life's work .
- Boston / USA : In the bribery scandal involving American universities, the actress Felicity Huffman is sentenced to 14 days in prison and a fine.
- Los Angeles / United States : 45th Saturn Award ceremony

- Graz / Austria : Norbert Hofer is elected as the new federal party leader of the FPÖ . He succeeds Heinz-Christian Strache , who resigned from office due to the Ibiza affair .
- Vienna / Austria : The more than 40-year stage career of the First General Uncertainty ends with a last concert in the town hall .
- Abqaiq and Churais oil field / Saudi Arabia : As part of the civil war in Yemen , two key Saudi Aramco facilities are attacked by drones . As a result, Aramco's oil production is estimated to collapse by half. Yemeni Houthi rebels acknowledge the attacks.

- Brussels / Belgium : The Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament rejects two candidates for the von der Leyen Commission .
- Lima / Peru : Peru's President Martín Vizcarra dissolves parliament. Shortly thereafter, Parliament unanimously declared him deposed and Vice-President Mercedes Aráoz as incumbent President. This waived a day later and also resigns as Vice President. There is no longer any of the original two vice-presidents.
