The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 83rd time in 1967/68 . The most important football cup competition in Scottish club football was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association. He started on December 16, 1967, and ended with the final on 27 April 1968 at Hampden Park of Glasgow . As the defending champion, Celtic Glasgow started the competition, which the year before won its 19th cup in the club's history. In the previous year's final , Celtic prevailed 2-0 against FC Aberdeen . In this year's Scottish Cup final, Dunfermline Athletic and Heart of Midlothian faced each other. For Dunfermline it was the third final participation after 1961 and 1965 . In the 1961 final, the team defeated Celtic Glasgow 2-0 in the repeat final, four years later Dunfermline lost 3-2 to Celtic . The Hearts from Edinburgh reached the final of the Scottish FA Cup for the eighth time after 1891 , 1896 , 1901 , 1903 , 1906 , 1907 and 1956 , five of which were won. Dunfermline won the 1968 final by beating Hearts 3-1 to win the overall 2nd Scottish FA Cup . In the Scottish Division One finished at the end of season 1967/68 Dunfermline the 4th place, Hearts being ranked 12 out of 18 took as cup winners Dunfermline Athletic competition of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in part, and reached it the semifinals opposite eventual winners ŠK Slovan Bratislava was lost .
