Dümmer, Hohe Sieben and Ochsenmoor is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipalities of Hüde , Marl , Stemshorn and Lembruch in the Diepholz district , in the town of Damme in the Vechta district and in the Bohmte municipality in the Osnabrück district .
General
The nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 251 is approximately 1822 hectares . It is completely part of the 2965 hectare FFH area "Dümmer" and the 4630 hectare EU bird sanctuary "Dümmer". In the north it borders on the nature reserve " Huntebruch and Huntebruchwiesen " and in the north and west on the nature reserve " Westliche Dümmerniederung ". Otherwise, in the area of the Dümmer it borders on the landscape protection area “Dümmer” as well as to a large extent also the sub-area “ Hohe Sieben ” between Lembruch and Hüde. To the south of Hüde, the nature reserve borders partly on the "Ochsenbruch" nature reserve, as well as on the Schäferhof in the south-west of the nature reserve. The previous nature reserves " Dümmer ", " Ochsenmoor " and "Hohe Sieben" as well as parts of the landscape protection area " Dümmer " were merged into the nature reserve . The area has been under nature protection since August 16, 2019. Responsible lower nature conservation authorities are the districts of Diepholz, Vechta and Osnabrück.

The nature reserve is located south of Diepholz and east of Damme. It represents a part of the Dümmer with its shore areas and adjoining lowland areas in the west and south of Dümmer and the Hunte estuary, the siltation zones or behind the dike of the Dümmer areas in Hürl well as large parts of the ox Moores, a fen area under protection. The area of the sports boat harbor near Dümmerlohhausen is excluded from the scope of the nature reserve.
In the area of the nature reserve, the Dümmer is surrounded by silting zones of different widths with reed beds and sedge beds as well as broken forest , wet bushes and tall herbaceous meadows. The silting zones are preceded by zones with floating leaf and underwater vegetation. The part of the Hohe Sieben near Hürl located behind the dike is watered all year round in order to preserve moist habitats with reed beds and sedge beds as well as remains of swamp forests.
The ox moor is largely characterized by grassland that is extensively cultivated as meadows and pastures . The grassland is often wet. Many sedges settle here. There are also tall herbaceous meadows and small-scale alder forests. Small bodies of water can be found in places.
The area is the habitat of a species-rich flora and fauna. The Dümmer is home to various types of fish, including a. come Loach and loach ago, and is a habitat for water birds such as Mute Swan , Gadwall , Tufted Duck , Shelduck , Black-necked Grebe , Water Rail , Coot and Spotted Crake . Also, ospreys and otters are native to the area.
The Ochsenmoor, together with the western Dümmerniederung, forms one of the largest contiguous wet grassland areas in northwest Germany. It is the habitat of various waders and meadow birds and an important resting area for waterbirds and waders, including geese , ducks and sawyers .
In the Ochsenmoor is habitat u. a. for the wading birds lapwing , black godwit , snipe , redshank and curlew . Furthermore come in the nature reserve u. a. Quail , corncrake , short-eared owl and black tern and marsh harrier , bittern , red-backed shrike , nightingale , oriole , Bluethroat , Whinchat , Reed Warbler , Sedge Warbler , Marsh Warbler , Reed Warbler , Savi's warbler , grasshopper warbler , Whitethroat and Wagtail ago. The area is also the habitat of the white stork .
As guest birds in the nature reserve u. a. Cormorant , seeds , Bläss- and Gray Goose , minke and whooper swan , whistling , Krick- , spit , Knäk- , Spoon , Tableware , haddock and Pochard , goose and Smew and Red-necked Grebe ago.
Settle on moderately moist locations and a. Common stench grass , meadowfoam and hot buttercup . Tall herbaceous corridors are u. a. formed by the real meadowsouth , water dost and yellow meadow rue . Narrow-leaved cottongrass , swamp blood-eye and various peat mosses settle on moored areas, especially in the silting areas of the Dümmers and water -logged areas in the Hohe Sieben . A special feature is the occurrence of creeping celery in the area of the ox bog.
Dümmer and still waters in the nature reserve are home to yellow pond rose , spawning herbs such as glossy pondweed , streaky pondweed , spiky pondweed and hairy pondweed as well as frog bite and common water hose .
The nature reserve can be experienced from the dike around the Dümmer and from several observation towers and footbridges in the Dümmer. There are observation towers on the north, east, south and west banks of the Dümmers as well as another one in the northeast of the Ochsenmoor. In the northeast of the Ochsenmoor there is a nature discovery path that leads past the observation tower in the Ochsenmoor. There is also a nature conservation station operated by the Lower Saxony State Office for Water Management, Coastal Protection and Nature Conservation. There are also some paths through the ox moor.
