DFB Cup 2006/07

The final round for the 2007/08 DFB Cup took place between August 2007 and April 2008. It was played for the 65th time. The final took place on April 19, 2008; Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich met there . Traditionally, the venue was the Olympic Stadium in Berlin . The last time the second teams from professional clubs were eligible to participate.

Bayern Munich expanded their lead as the best cup team with the 2-1 win after extra time and the associated 14th victory in the 16th final. With the sixth title, goalkeeper Oliver Kahn also took the sole lead as the most successful player in the cup. However, there was also reason to be happy for the defeated BVB: With Bayern's championship in the same season, participation in the final was enough to qualify for the UEFA Cup . But there was already in the first round against Udinese Calcio after penalties.

The second division FC Carl Zeiss Jena played surprisingly strong, defeating the defending champions 1. FC Nürnberg , then Arminia Bielefeld and finally the reigning champions VfB Stuttgart in the second round , but relegated to the third division at the end of the season. It was only in the semifinals that Jena ended up in Dortmund. This game took place in front of 80,708 spectators and is therefore the best-attended cup game in Germany to date. The final took place earlier than usual because of the upcoming European Championship, at a time when the Bundesliga season was still going on.

First, each team from the amateur team was drawn to a team from the Bundesliga or 2nd Bundesliga, then the remaining games were drawn from among the remaining professional teams.
