Elected Mayor of Carinthia 2015

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mayoral elections 2015 in Carinthia including the results of the runoff elections.
2009 mayoral elections in comparison.

The list of elected mayors in Carinthia 2015 indicates the mayors in Carinthian municipalities elected on the occasion of the 2015 election .

In Carinthia, a candidate is elected mayor if he can win an absolute majority in the first ballot, i.e. more than 50 percent of the valid votes. If this is not the case, then in a second ballot the two candidates with the highest number of votes compete against each other in a runoff.

Election result

In 95 (71.97 percent) of the 132 municipalities, the mayor was elected in the first ballot. In 37 municipalities (28.03 percent), runoff elections for the head of the municipality were required because no candidate was able to jump the 50 percent hurdle required.

In the 2015 election it was necessary for the first time in the history of Carinthia to hold a second runoff election in a municipality, as the two candidates were able to win the same number of votes after the first runoff election.

Only 84 of the 132 municipalities (63.64 percent) have the same mayor after the 2015 elections as in the last term of office. A new mayor was elected in 48 municipalities (36.36 percent), with the previous mayor no longer standing in 33 municipalities (68.75 percent) and the previous mayor reappearing in 15 municipalities (31.25 percent), but none Majority got more. In 28 of these 48 municipalities (58.33 percent) the mayors - apart from the changes from BZÖ / FPK to FPÖ - also changed parties, while in 20 municipalities (41.67 percent) the mayor changed within the party change took place. For the change, see the following table:

Most of the candidates applied for the mayor's office in the state capital Klagenfurt . Maria-Luise Mathiaschitz was able to prevail against ten other candidates, including the previous mayor Christian Scheider , in the second ballot. Six candidates ran in five municipalities and five candidates in ten municipalities. In contrast, there was only one candidate in six parishes, but none of the parishes resulted in a hundred percent approval. Johannes Pirker had the best result in Dellach im Drautal with 88.93 percent, while Josef Schachner in Heiligenblut am Großglockner only achieved 61.31 percent.

Josef Müller found the highest approval in Griffen , who received 91.15 percent of the vote despite two competitors. The percentage of votes for Johannes Pirker in Dellach im Drautal (88.93 percent) and for Andreas Grabuschnig in Eberstein (88.79 percent) was only slightly lower . With just a single majority, Anna Zarre was able to prevail over the previously incumbent mayor Unterweger Siegfried in Albeck in the first ballot. In the runoff elections, Siegfried Ronacher had the tightest result in Hermagor-Pressegger See ; the majority of just seven votes were enough to succeed Rauscher Vinzenz.

Proportion of women

Of the 432 applicants for the office of mayor, only 35 were women. Nevertheless, the women were able to more than double their share, because instead of the previous three, a total of seven women will head their community as mayors after the 2015 election; and this although Marialuise Mittermüller did not run in Steindorf am Ossiacher See and Christine Ploner was no longer re-elected in Dellach in the Gailtal . Nevertheless, the proportion of women is low at 5.30 percent. Only Sonya Feinig in Feistritz im Rosental was confirmed in office. In addition to Maria-Luise Mathiaschitz in Klagenfurt and Anna Zarre in Albeck, Gabriele Dörflinger in Klein St. Paul , Hilde Gaggl in Krumpendorf , Silvia Häusl-Benz in Pörtschach and Marika Lagger-Pöllinger in Lendorf joined the team. Five of the seven women were only elected in the runoff election.
