geography

location

The Reihendorf lies between the two towns of Heide and Wesselburen. Neuenkirchen is still strongly influenced by agriculture. The village runs across the loose settlement areas Haferwisch and Tödienwisch in the west and Böddinghusen, Blankenmoor and Tiebensee in the south. The White Moor is the last raised moor in the Schleswig-Holsteiner marshland.

Neighboring communities

Neighboring communities are the communities Strübbel , Hemme , Stelle-Wittenwurth , Weddingstedt , Wesseln , Norderwöhrden , Oesterwurth and Schülp (all in the district of Dithmarschen), starting clockwise in the north .

history

The church in Neuenkirchen was first mentioned in a document in 1323. It was founded by the Dithmarsch settlement families of the Hödienmannen and the Tödienmannen in honor of St. James the Elder. It was a spin-off from the older parish of Wesselburen and became an independent parish at the beginning of the 14th century . At the same time, the medieval development of the land in the moated Sietland, which had begun in the 12th century after the Dithmarscher Nordermarsch had been dyed, was completed. The gender settlements, elongated Hofwurten chains in the Dithmarscher Nordermarsch, are a reflection of this development. In the vicinity of Neuenkirchen there are medieval court sausages and sausages from the 2nd to 4th centuries AD, as documented by excavations in Haferwisch.

On April 1, 1934, the parish of Neuenkirchen was dissolved. Your area was transferred to the community of Neuenkirchen.

Incorporations

Tiebensee is now a district of Neuenkirchen.

politics

Community representation

Of the eleven seats in the municipal council, after the municipal elections in 2013, the SPD has five seats, the BWV electoral community three seats and the WBN also three seats.

coat of arms

Blazon : "Above a green shield base, in it a silver cotton grass, in gold the red Neuenkirchen church."

In 1704 and 1729 the church building burned down completely. The eventful history, but also the derivation of the place name (Neuenkirchen = to the new church) has led to the church as the main figure in the municipal coat of arms. The cotton grass in the shield base points to the "White Moor ", an extensive raised moor that is rare in this landscape and is mainly located in the municipality of Neuenkirchen.

Attractions

The St. Jacobi Church is one of the oldest cultural monuments in Dithmarschen. It was built in the 14th century. After it burned down, all that remains of the original church are the walls that were used when a new building was built in 1730.

The interior is mainly from the period between 1710 and 1729. The baptism dates from 1710, the altar was carved in 1730 by the Wesselburen carver AH Burmeister, and the organ from this period was made by the organ builder Johann Hinrich Klapmeyer (1738). The rhombus growing near the church is a very rare fern in this area.

Culture

There is a disco in the Tiebensee district, which is very attractive to young people in the area and is therefore the center of the local entertainment industry.
