Location of the British Isles

This list includes the most important of the approximately 600 islands in the British Isles . Politically, these islands are part of the United Kingdom , the Republic of Ireland and the Isle of Man , which as crown property is not part of the United Kingdom. The Channel Islands , which are sometimes politically part of the British Isles, do not belong geographically. Islands of the British Overseas Territories and Inland Islands are also not listed .
