This list contains spiral tunnels of railway lines worldwide .

Tunnel type

If the topographical conditions so require, the circular arc of a hairpin or a circular turnaround loop can be designed entirely or partially as a spiral tunnel.

Tunnel, in which the route turns in the opposite direction are referred to as loop tunnels or loop tunnel , respectively. They mostly occur in connection with double or multiple loops or side valley sweeps. These structures are referred to as reversible tunnel in the tunnel type column in the table below .

Structures that are located in a part of the route that makes a turn of over 360 ° are referred to as screw tunnels , roundabout tunnels or spiral tunnels . With these routes, two points of the route must lie on top of each other, which means that the upper route must be led over the lower route at one point. These structures are referred to in the following table in the tunnel type column as the circular turning tunnel .
