Olaf Hampel (bobsledder)

Olaf Hampel (born November 1, 1965 in Bielefeld ) is a German bobsleigh driver . Hampel was a two-time Olympic champion as a pusher for Harald Czudaj (1994) and Christoph Langen (1998).

In addition to his two Olympic successes at the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer in 1994 and in Nagano in 1998 , when he won gold medals in the four-man bobsleigh both times , he was German champion in two-man bobsleigh in 1989 and 1995 and also world champion in two-man bobsleigh in 1995 . In his most successful year, 1996, he won the world championship in four-man bobsleigh, the European championship in four-man and two-man bobsleigh, and the German championship in two-man bobsleigh. He was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for his athletic achievements .
